Teen Shot in Hayes Valley

A 16-year-old boy was shot in the leg and then arrested after he was found with a gun in San Francisco’s Hayes Valley late Friday morning, a police spokesman said today.

The boy was shot just before noon Friday near Hayes and Buchanan streets, according to San Francisco police spokesman Officer Gordon Shyy.

Officers found him suffering from a gunshot wound to his leg and he was taken to San Francisco General Hospital. He is expected to survive his injuries, Shyy said.

During the investigation, officers discovered the teen had a gun in his possession. He will be taken into custody at juvenile hall after he is medically cleared, Shyy said.

The shooting suspect is believed to be a man in his 20s. He is associated with a gray four-door sedan that left the scene of the shooting, Shyy said.
