Elderly Woman Robbed in Chinatown Home

A man held down an elderly woman and robbed her in her Chinatown apartment last weekend, police said today.

The man, believed to be in his 50s, walked through the front door of the woman’s home in the 700 block of Jackson Street at about 1:45 p.m. Saturday and threw her on the floor, police said.

He put his hand over the woman’s mouth as he rummaged through a drawer, found money inside and then ran away, according to police.

The woman in her 80s suffered scratches and bruising in the attack but her injuries were not life-threatening.

The suspect remains at large and police did not immediately provide more details about him today.
