San Francisco police arrested a suspect tonight in a series of arsons that have occurred in the South of Market neighborhood this month, according to a spokesman.
Since about June 17, there have been several fires at construction sites, occupied buildings and garbage receptacles along Market Street and in the South of Market area, according to police.
Police released photos and videos this week that they believed showed a suspect responsible for the fires.
A suspect was arrested tonight, but police are waiting until tomorrow to release more details and the suspect’s identity, according to Officer Gordon Shyy.
A video of the suspect is available online at http://www.sf-police.org/index.aspx?page=3763&recordid=939.
