All lanes have reopened on southbound Interstate Highway 280 in San Francisco after a downed tree stalled traffic for much of the afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The tree fell at about 1 p.m. and initially blocked three lanes near Alemany Boulevard, the CHP said.

One lane was reopened shortly before 2 p.m., but the other two lanes are expected to remain closed until about 6 p.m.
