Clay Street Water Main Break Repaired

A Clay Street water main that broke this afternoon, knocking out water service for some homes and businesses, has been repaired and water service restored, according to San Francisco Public Utilities Commission officials.

The 8-inch water main was struck around 1:30 p.m. near Clay Street and Presidio Avenue. A sewer contractor struck the line, according to SFPUC spokeswoman Alison Kastama.

Residents on Clay Street from Laurel Street to Presidio Avenue and on Walnut Street between Clay and Washington streets had water turned off around 2:30 p.m., she said.
