SFPD Officers Shoot And Wound Dog

San Francisco police officers shot and injured a dog during a call for service in the city’s Visitacion Valley neighborhood on Thursday night after the dog charged at the officers, according to police.

Police said officers were responding to a call in the 100 block of Brookdale Avenue around 9:20 p.m. when a pit bull emerged from the open door of a nearby home and charged at the officers.

Officers opened fire, striking the dog in the leg, according to police.

Animal Care and Control personnel arrived on scene a short time later to take the pit bull, which was treated for its injuries, police said.

The dog is expected to survive, according to police.
