2:08 PM: A suspicious package found in San Francisco’s South of Market neighborhood this afternoon was determined to be harmless, a police spokesman said.

The Police Department’s bomb squad responded around 12:10 p.m. to a building in the 1000 block of Harrison Street, police spokesman Officer Gordon Shyy said.

The building had been evacuated and nearby Bessie Carmichael Elementary School, located at 375 Seventh St., chose to evacuate as a precaution, Shyy said.

The scene was cleared around 1:40 p.m. after authorities found there was no threat, Shyy said.

1:55 PM: A bomb squad is responding to San Francisco’s South of Market neighborhood after a suspicious package was found in a building there this afternoon, a police spokesman said.

An employee reported at 12:10 p.m. that there was a suspicious package found in a building in the 1000 block of Harrison Street, San Francisco police Officer Gordon Shyy said.

The building was evacuated and staff at Bessie Carmichael Elementary School, located nearby at 375 Seventh St., also voluntarily evacuated, Shyy said.
