9:22 AM: Police arrested shooting suspect after a SWAT standoff around his RV parked in San Francisco’s Outer Mission District, police said.
The shooting was reported in the area of 2800 block of Alemany Boulevard near Farragut Avenue at 3:08 a.m., Sgt. Danielle Newman said.
Responding officers located a man in his 30s suffering from a gunshot wound to his leg, according to Sgt. Eric O’Neal.
The victim was transported to San Francisco General Hospital and is expected to survive, police said.
The victim was conscious and alert when officers arrived and was able to tell police who shot him and that he was staying in an RV parked nearby, Newman said.
Police found the trailer parked in front of the Patio Espanol restaurant at 2850 Alemany Blvd.
Officers tried to make contact with the man inside, but he refused to come out. A SWAT team and a hostage negotiator were called to the scene, Newman said.
Just before 8:30 a.m. the hostage negotiator talked the suspect into surrendering and he was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
The man police arrested has a criminal history but Newman said she doesn’t think he is currently wanted for any crimes.
Alemany was closed between Lawrence and Naglee avenues until after the suspect was arrested, disrupting traffic near Interstate Highway 280.
