Mission District Bank Teller Shuts Wannabe Robber Down

A man unsuccessfully tried to steal money from a bank in San Francisco’s Mission District Thursday afternoon, according to police.

Around 1 p.m., the suspect, believed to be a man between 40 and 50, walked into the bank located in the 200 block of Valencia Street, which is near Duboce, according to police.

A Chase bank branch is located at 299 Valencia St.

The suspect went up to a teller window and gave the bank employee a note demanding money.

The teller did not give the suspect money and found a bank supervisor who called police.

The suspect left the bank before police arrived and had not been caught as of this morning, according to police.

No one was injured in the attempted robbery, police said.

Staff at the Chase branch declined to comment on the incident this morning.
