9:56 AM: San Francisco Municipal Railway’s Powell cable car line is up and running after service was interrupted earlier this morning, according to a Muni spokesman.

Shortly before 8 a.m., Muni officials reported on Twitter that the cable car line would be down in both directions indefinitely.

The Powell cable car line reopened at about 9:40 a.m., according to Muni spokesman Paul Rose.

Shuttle buses will continue to supplement service this morning, Muni officials said.

Rose said he did not yet know the exact cause of the service disruption.

9:46 AM: San Francisco Municipal Railway’s Powell cable car line is out of service this morning, according to Muni officials.

Shortly before 8 a.m., Muni officials reported on Twitter that the cable car line would be down in both directions for several hours.

Shuttle buses will be supplementing service this morning. Muni officials have not yet released an estimated time for reopening the cable car line nor an apparent cause for the service disruption.
