Third Flu Death Of Season Reported In SF

San Francisco health officials today announced the city’s third flu-related death of the season.

According to the San Francisco Department of Public Health, the latest victim was someone who was not elderly but who had an underlying medical condition.

The city’s first flu death of the season was reported in late December, and the second was confirmed last week, according to SFDPH officials.

Information from Bay Area county health departments indicates that at least 34 flu deaths have occurred this winter in the region.

More information about how to avoid getting the flu can be found on the Department of Public Health’s website at http://www.sfcdcp.org/flu.html.
