A special exhibit opening at the San Francisco Zoo Saturday will take a close look at what animals leave behind—their poop.

The “Scoop on Poop” exhibit opens Saturday and runs until May 11 at the Pachyderm Building at the zoo, located at the foot of Sloat Boulevard.

The exhibit includes interactive stations, 3-D models and large graphic panels that delve into animals’ digestive systems, show scat displays, share the nomenclature of poop around the world, bring in a dinosaur dung detective and more.

Visitors will learn plenty of turd trivia, such as the fact that sloths poop only once a week or that elephants drop up to 300 pounds of dung a day.

Opening day at the family-friendly exhibit starts at 10 a.m.
