Berkeley BART Station Reopens After Person Reported Under Train

The BART Berkeley Station has reopened after a person was reported under a train this afternoon, a transit agency spokeswoman said.

Firefighters and paramedics responded to the station after the report was made at about 2:12 p.m., BART spokeswoman Alicia Trost said.

Preliminary information from the scene indicated the male victim was able to talk to paramedics before being transported to a local hospital, Trost said.

Further information on the victim’s condition was not immediately available, and the incident remains under investigation, she said.

The emergency caused the Berkeley Station to be closed for about 30 minutes, Trost said.

Trains single-tracked around the station and were around 20 minutes behind schedule, she said.

The station reopened at about 2:50 p.m. and trains were experiencing minimal delays by 3 p.m.
