A man who was killed in a stabbing in San Francisco’s Mission District last Thursday has been identified by the medical examiner’s office as 56-year-old John Porter.
The stabbing was reported at about 7:30 p.m. Thursday near 15th and Wiese streets.
A witness said Porter, who has no fixed address, was stabbed in the chest after an argument, police said.
Using a description provided by witnesses, investigators eventually located 58-year-old William Randleston and arrested him on suspicion of murder, according to police.
Randleston remained in custody as of this morning and also has a parole hold, sheriff’s spokeswoman Susan Fahey said.
