Vehicle Strikes Fire Hydrant, Ruptures Gas Line

A vehicle struck a fire hydrant and caused a gas leak in San Francisco’s Bayview district this morning, according to fire officials.

The collision occurred on Jennings Street between Thomas and Underwood avenues at about 3:20 a.m., according to fire officials.

The vehicle struck the fire hydrant, causing water to flow into the roadway. The water has been shut off and PG&E is responding to the ruptured gas line.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
