SF Giants Hopefuls Injured In Crash Near Conditioning Camp

Five San Francisco Giant minor leaguers were hospitalized today after a crash near the team’s minor league complex in Arizona.

The two-car crash occurred this morning near the Giants’ complex in Scottsdale, Ariz., according to team officials.

Eleven players were in a passenger van going from the team hotel when the crash occurred. Bryce Bandilla, Adalberto Mejia, Dan Slania, Jeff Soptic and Kelby Tomlinson were taken to a hospital to be treated for minor injuries and were later released, team officials said.

The players were beginning a three-week conditioning camp at the Scottsdale site.

The Giants organization, including major leaguers, begins its spring training in Scottsdale in February.
