Masked Men Behind Mission District Shooting

Two masked suspects shot a man in San Francisco’s Mission District on Thursday afternoon, police said today.

The shooting was reported at 2:14 p.m. in the 3200 block of 26th Street, which is near Folsom.

After firing at the 19-year-old victim, the suspects fled in a black or blue Honda and had not been found as of this morning, police said.

The victim was taken to San Francisco General Hospital to be treated for a gunshot wound that is not considered life-threatening, according to police.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the Police Department’s anonymous tip line at (415) 575-4444 or to send a tip by text message to TIP411 with “SFPD” in the message.

I have been following the news in the last 2 weeks. 1st this shooting at 26th & Folsom St, then 2nd one at 24th & York St followed by a 3rd shooting at Cesar Chavez & Treat St all victims are described as 19-20 years old males, all within a few blocks of each other.

WHY don’t we have more police on foot here? Why does SFPD victim-blame residents of this neighborhood when we try to call them? I live near 26th & Folsom and have noticed after this crime, a bunch of new faces of young men hanging around the corner near Rubin Market. At night the crack dealers (particularly the 7ft tall black man with the deep voice) stand on the same corner or nearby. When will this end? How many have to die?
