Gold Chain Vendor Stabbed During Mid-Market Dispute

A 20-year-old man was stabbed in the arm while trying to sell a gold chain in San Francisco’s Mid-Market neighborhood Tuesday night, police said.

The stabbing happened at about 9:40 p.m. in the 1000 block of Market St.

The victim gave the chain to the prospective buyer, but the suspect tried to keep the jewelry without paying for it.

That was when the victim started to fight the man to get his chain back, police said.

During the tussle, the suspect stabbed the victim in the arm and left with the chain, according to police.

The suspect was described as a black man between 30 and 40 years old wearing a black beanie, a white T-shirt, a black jacket and black pants, police said.

The victim’s injuries were not believed to be to be life-threatening. Police were unclear what type of sharp object was used to stab the man.
