A vehicle fire on eastbound Interstate Highway 80 at the Treasure Island off ramp on the Bay Bridge today triggered a brief Sig-alert for two lanes of the freeway, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The CHP got a call at 4:10 p.m. about a car on fire on I-80 at the off ramp and the San Francisco Fire Department arrived soon afterwards to douse the blaze, the CHP reported.

A Sig-alert was issued for the two right lanes on the eastbound side of the freeway but was withdrawn only about 20 minutes later, according to the CHP.

The CHP had the burned car towed off of the bridge, the CHP said.
