Weekend Traffic And Transit Disruptions: Veterans Day Parade And Parking Enforcement, 49ers Game

Veterans Day Holiday Muni Schedule and Parking Enforcement
Muni service will follow a regular weekday schedule on Veterans Day Holiday, Monday.

Parking meters and seven day street sweeping will be enforced citywide on the holiday. Commuter tow away, residential parking permits and Monday-Friday daytime street sweeping will not be enforced.

Meters on Port of San Francisco property, including The Embarcadero and Fisherman’s Wharf, will be enforced seven days per week throughout the year, except Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.

Hazards are always subject to ticketing and towing.

Veterans Day Parade
On Sunday the annual Veterans Day Parade will take place on Market Street from 2nd Street to the Civic Center Plaza. Staging will begin at 7 a.m. on 2nd Street between Market and Folsom streets. No traffic will be allowed on 2nd Street. Cross traffic on Folsom, Howard and Mission streets at 2nd Street will be allowed until the parade begins. After the parade units have passed and the street is cleaned, 2nd Street will be re-opened for traffic.

Traffic along Market Street will start closing beginning at 10 a.m. No traffic will be allowed on Market Street between 2nd and 7th streets after 10:30 a.m. SFMTA traffic control officers and SFPD officers will be present to facilitate cross traffic across Market Street between 2nd and 7th streets until 10:30 a.m.

Streets will be re-opened once the parade units have passed and the streets have been cleaned.

At 11 a.m. the parade will proceed north on 2nd Street, west on Market Street, west on McAllister Street, south on Dr. Carlton B. Goodlett Place and pass the reviewing stand. The parade will disband on Grove Street between Van Ness Avenue and Larkin Street.

During the parade, vehicles will be re-routed around the parade route except Muni buses.

49ers Football Game
On Sunday the San Francisco 49ers will host their fifth home game against the Carolina Panthers at 1:05 p.m. at Candlestick Park.

Motorists should expect delays on all bridges and freeways leading into San Francisco for at least two hours before the start of the game and for at least two hours after the end of the game. Fans attending the games are encouraged to take public transportation. For more information, please visit www.sfmta.com/football.

NEW NFL Bag Policy: Fans should be advised that there is a new NFL Bag Policy in effect at 49ers games. Only NFL-approved bags will be permitted inside Candlestick Park. For more information, please visit www.49ers.com/stadium/prohibited-items.html.

On game days, Muni offers several ways to get to Candlestick Park from locations throughout San Francisco. There are four Muni Express routes and two Shuttles.

All service, including the express service, is regular fare service, $2 adult per trip and $.75 for youth/senior/disabled per trip.

On game days, Muni customers may purchase their fare in advance. SFMTA staff will sell one-way and roundtrip Muni fares from 10 to 1 p.m. at the following locations:

· Balboa Park BART Station
· Sutter Street/Sansome Street

For service to and from the game, T Third customers should transfer at the Gilman/Paul station to the 87 Candlestick Shuttle, which operates directly between the station and Candlestick Park.

· 77X Candlestick Express – from California and Van Ness
· 78X Candlestick Express – from California and Funston
· 79X Candlestick Express – from Sutter and Sansome

*Due to the Veteran’s Day Parade, the last pre-game stop will be at Mason and Geary streets and will then reroute to the Freeway from that point. Riders along 5th Street and Cyril Magnin can board the 79X Candlestick Express at Mason and Geary streets stop or can board the 8X Bayshore Express at Howard or Folsom streets on 3rd Street to Bacon Street and transfer to the 86 Candlestick Shuttle.

· 77X Candlestick Express – to Van Ness and North Point
· 78X Candlestick Express – to California and Funston
· 79X Candlestick Express – to Kearny and Sutter

79X Candlestick Express Re-route
As of last year, the southbound 79X, which provides express service to the 49ers game from downtown, will be re-routed due to Central Subway construction on Stockton and 4th streets. Customers traveling to the game can board the 79X Candlestick Express at the following locations:

Sutter and Sansome
Sutter and Kearny
Mason and Geary
Cyril Magnin and Market
5th Street and Mission
5th Street and Howard
5th Street and Folsom

The southbound buses will then travel express to Candlestick Park from 5th and Folsom streets. Northbound buses will remain on the regular route.
