Weekend Traffic And Transit Disruptions: Day of the Dead, Half Marathon, Daylight Saving Time

Festival of Altars and Day of the Dead Procession
On Saturday, the annual celebration of Festival of Altars and Day of the Dead Procession will take place in the Mission District. Staging of Day of the Dead procession will begin on Bryant Street and the Festival of Altars will take place in the Garfield Park from 6 to 11 p.m.

Beginning at 6 p.m., staging of the procession will start on southbound Bryant Street between 19th and 24th streets. The procession will begin at 7 p.m. and follow the route with south on Bryant Street, west on 24th Street, north on Mission Street, east on 22nd Street and back onto Bryant Street for dispersal.

Traffic will be detoured around the procession.

27 Bryant
48 Quintara-24th Street
49 Van Ness-Mission
67 Bernal Heights

Traffic in the event area is expected to be heavy until approximately 9 p.m. Motorist and transit riders should allow extra travel time.

U.S. Fall Half Marathon
On Sunday, the annual U.S. Fall Half Marathon will commence from Aquatic Park. The 13.1-mile course will take runners across the Golden Gate Bridge and back to Aquatic Park. The race will begin at 7 a.m.

The following street closures will be required:

10 a.m., Saturday to 1 p.m., Sunday
Jefferson Street between Westerly Terminus and Hyde Street

6:30 – 8 a.m., Sunday
Southbound Van Ness Avenue from North Point to Bay streets
Westbound Bay Street from Van Ness Avenue to Laguna Street

6:30 – 10:30 a.m., Sunday
One westbound lane on Marina Boulevard from Buchanan Street to Marina Gate
Laguna Street between Bay and Beach streets
Westbound Beach Street between Laguna and Buchanan streets

The following Muni routes will be affected:
28 19th Avenue
30 Stockton
47 Van Ness
49 Van Ness-Mission

Charles Schwab Cup Championship
The 24th anniversary of the Charles Schwab Cup Championship will take place from Thursday through Sunday at Harding Park.

The Sunset Circle parking lot located at Sunset and Lake Merced boulevards will be closed during the event

There will be no closure for this event. Heavy traffic is expected along John Muir Drive, Lake Merced, Skyline and Sunset boulevards. Motorists heading the event area should allow extra time.

Daylight Saving Time
On Sunday, daylight saving time will end at 2 a.m. Clocks should be set back one hour at this time.
