Woman’s Body Found In SF General Stairwell

A woman’s body was found in an exterior stairwell at San Francisco General Hospital this morning, a hospital spokeswoman said.

The identity of the body, which was found around 10 a.m., has not been confirmed, hospital spokeswoman Rachael Kagan said.

However, her name is expected to be released later this afternoon.

The family of missing woman Lynne Spaulding is awaiting word about whether the woman found is their loved one, family spokesman David Perry said.

Spalding, 57, was last seen at the hospital, where she was being treated for an infection when she slipped out of her bed and disappeared on Sept. 14.

At the time of her disappearance, Spalding had been unwell and frail, and her family was concerned she might have been confused because of medication she was taking.

The San Francisco Sheriff’s Department is leading the investigation of the body.
