Suspect In August Homicide Returns To SF

San Francisco police today announced the arrest of a suspect in an August fatal shooting in the city’s Visitacion Valley neighborhood.

Zuri Wilson, 36, of San Francisco, was arrested Oct. 4 in San Pablo on suspicion of killing 34-year-old Shawnte Otis on Aug. 23 in the 100 block of Blythedale Avenue, police spokeswoman Sgt. Danielle Newman said.

Otis was sitting in a car when two suspects approached and opened fire. He was hit by the gunfire and was taken to San Francisco General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Newman said investigators are not yet releasing details about what led to the arrest of Wilson, who has been transported back to San Francisco from Contra Costa County.

She said the case remains open while investigators look for the second suspect. No information about the second suspect was immediately available.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the Police Department’s anonymous tip line at (415) 575-4444 or to send a tip by text message to TIP411 with “SFPD” in the message.
