SFPD Officer Hurt During Tenderloin Chase

A San Francisco police officer was injured chasing a suspect in the city’s Tenderloin neighborhood this afternoon, police said.

The officer was chasing the suspect on foot near the corner of Turk and Taylor streets at about 5 p.m., Officer Albie Esparza said.

But when he caught up with the suspect, the suspect resisted arrest and the officer suffered bruises, cuts and abrasions.

The suspect was taken into custody. The officer was taken to a hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening, Esparza said.

Esparza did not have information about why the officer was chasing the suspect.
