A quickly spreading wildfire burning near Lake Berryessa in Napa County tonight has grown to 500 acres, according to Cal Fire.

Firefighters first responded to the fire at about 8:30 p.m., near Berryessa Knoxville Road on the east side of the lake and the Putah Canyon Recreation Area, Cal Fire officials said.

At about 9:45 p.m., Cal Fire officials reported the fire was covering 200 acres. Within an hour, Cal Fire said the fire had grown to 500 acres.

The Napa County Sheriff’s Office said that no evacuations have been ordered but that roads will be closed as firefighters work to contain the fire.

Residents throughout San Francisco said on Twitter tonight that they could smell smoke, many presuming it was related to the Napa County fire. People from downtown all the way to San Francisco International Airport reported smelling smoke.
