SFPD Seeking SOMA Bank Robber

Police are seeking a man who robbed a bank in San Francisco’s South of Market neighborhood Monday morning.

The robbery was reported at about 10:25 a.m. in the 600 block of Eighth Street, which is near Brannan.

The suspect, a man believed to be in his 30s, walked into the bank and handed over a note demanding a teller to put money in his bag, police said.

The teller complied, giving an undisclosed amount of cash to the suspect, who fled and had not been found as of this morning, according to police.

The suspect was described as a black man who was wearing a black coat, gray pants and dark glasses, police spokesman Officer Gordon Shyy said.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the Police Department’s anonymous tip line at (415) 575-4444 or to send a tip by text message to TIP411 with “SFPD” in the message.
