Get Your Free Small Slurpee Today

In honor of today’s date, 7-Eleven stores in the Bay Area and beyond are giving away free Slurpees.

The chain has been around for 86 years, providing on-the-go snacks and supplies, including the flavored ice drink fondly known as the Slurpee.

According to the company’s website, customers consume nearly 13 million Slurpee drinks each month. The beverage was introduced in 1966, and almost 6.5 billion Slurpees have been sold since then, company officials said.

As part of today’s promotion, patrons can receive a free small-size Slurpee at participating stores while supplies last, between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m.

In San Francisco, there are at least five stores, with several locations along Market and Sutter streets in the Financial District.

The 7-Eleven chain was created in 1927 and has 50,250 locations in 16 countries. About 10,100 of those are in North America.

Posts on the Slurpee event Facebook page included, “I can’t wait. I love Slurpees!”

Another user commented on the free giveaway saying, “Free. Slurpee. ‘Nuff said.”
