Flight 214 Crash: Cancellations, Lengthy Delays Continue At SFO

One runway remains closed at San Francisco International Airport today, and travelers are continuing to experience flight delays and cancellations.

As of midday, 70 flights in and out of the airport had been canceled, and arriving flights were delayed by as much as an hour and a half, airport spokesman Doug Yakel said.

Runway 28L has been shut down since Asiana Airlines Flight 214 crashed while landing late Saturday morning, killing two and injuring more than 180.

The airport’s other three runways are open, and the wreckage remains visible to those landing on the runway parallel to 28L.

Runway 28L is expected to remain closed for at least the next few days as the National Transportation Safety Board investigates the crash.

Yakel advised passengers to call their airlines for flight information before heading to the airport.
