Afternoon Shooting Sends Man To Hospital

San Francisco police are investigating a shooting in the city’s Bayview District that sent one victim to the hospital this afternoon, a police spokeswoman said.

The shooting was reported at about 12:55 p.m. in the 1500 block of Kirkwood Avenue.

Officers responded to reports that someone had been shot, but could not initially find a victim, San Francisco police spokeswoman Tracy Turner said.

They were then told that the male victim had left in a vehicle, and found the vehicle at San Bruno Avenue and 25th Street as it was en route to San Francisco General Hospital, Turner said.

The victim was taken to the hospital to be treated for a gunshot wound to his lower torso, injuries that are not considered life threatening, Turner said.

No arrests had been made and no suspect information was available this afternoon in connection with the shooting, she said.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the Police Department’s anonymous tip line at (415) 575-4444 or to send a tip by text message to TIP411 with “SFPD” in the message.
