Pedestrian Critically Injured In Marina Hit And Run

A man was critically injured by a hit-and-run driver in San Francisco’s Marina District on Tuesday night, police said today.

The 54-year-old victim was in a crosswalk at Lombard and Steiner streets when he was struck at about 10:25 p.m. Tuesday, police said.

He suffered a broken leg and head trauma, and the injuries are considered life-threatening, according to police.

The driver of the vehicle involved, which was described as a tan sedan, accelerated away after the collision and was last seen driving west on Lombard Street, police spokesman Officer Gordon Shyy said.

The driver’s side mirror on the car was broken, Shyy said.

Anyone with information about the hit-and-run is asked to call the Police Department’s anonymous tip line at (415) 575-4444 or send a tip by text message to TIP411 with “SFPD” in the message.
