6:19 PM: San Francisco firefighters quickly controlled a fire on a Tenderloin apartment building’s roof deck early this evening, a fire dispatcher said.

The fire was reported at 5:14 p.m. at 519 Ellis St., near Leavenworth Street. After arriving and seeing heavy smoke coming from the roof, firefighters quickly called a second alarm responose.

However, once firefighters got to the roof and put water on the fire, it was quickly extinguished and the fire was declared under control at about 5:30 p.m., fire officials said.

No one was injured.

5:55 PM: Firefighters are responding to a two-alarm fire in the San Francisco’s Tenderloin neighborhood this evening, a fire dispatcher said.

The fire is on Ellis Street near Leavenworth Street, according to the fire department.
