Portland, we’re coming after you. SF is just .3 points behind our neighbors to the north (we lost to them on dogs, too!) in terms of bike-friendliness, according to Walk Score. SF is followed by Denver, Philly, and Boston. As the Chron reports (scroll down to the second item), the city has a lot of bike-friendly neighborhoods to ride through, from SoMa to the Duboce Triangle.

Scores are determined by everything from bike lanes and route accessibility to the amount of bike commuters and terrain. Our hilly city may not be helping the bike-friendly cause, but beauty does come with a price sometimes.

SoMa received the highest bike-friendly score at 96, followed by the Mission with a score of 94.
