2013 Ride of Silence Honors Fallen Bicyclists Wednesday

In an effort to raise awareness of bicyclists and advocate for safer streets for vehicles, bicyclists, and pedestrians, a San Francisco Ride of Silence has been organized and will be held Wednesday, May 15.

Wednesday’s ride will honor ten victims who lost their lives between 2001 and 2013. Riders will stop at nine different locations where those fatalities occurred. Participants are encouraged to wear white as well as bring photos, flowers, and memorabilia to honor the fallen cyclists.

Ride of Silence began ten years ago in Dallas to honor fallen bicyclist Larry Schwartz, who was fatally struck by the mirror of a passing bus. For more information about this year’s Ride of Silence, visit Ride of Silence 2013’s Facebook event page or Ride of Silence’s main Facebook page.
