Weekend Traffic And Transit Disruptions: Cherry Blossom Fest, Cesar Chavez Parade, Earth Day

Baseball Game Traffic Reroutes
The San Francisco Giants will play five home games beginning Friday through Wednesday at AT&T Park

Two games against San Diego Padres:
· 7:15 p.m., Friday
· 6:05 p.m., Saturday

Three games against Arizona Diamondbacks:
· 7:15 p.m., Monday
· 7:15 p.m., Tuesday
· 12:45 p.m., Wednesday

The SFMTA advises motorists of the increased congestion in San Francisco and advises commuters to use transit and avoid using the Bay Bridge on these dates.

As a reminder to fans, in order to reduce congestion on city streets after all events at AT&T Park, the SFMTA will close the northbound portion of the 4th Street (Peter R. Maloney) Bridge to all traffic except streetcars, buses, taxis and bicycles during the post-game period. Giants fans parked south of Mission Creek Channel who are heading north of the channel are encouraged to exit to the south along 3rd or 4th streets in order to avoid congestion on King and 3rd streets after AT&T Park events.

Cherry Blossom Festival and Parade
The 46th annual Cherry Blossom Festival will take place on Saturday and Sunday. The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day with the Grand Parade being held on Sunday.

The following street closures will be required for the festival.

From 4 a.m., Saturday to 11 p.m., Sunday:
· Post Street between Steiner and Fillmore streets
· Webster Street between Geary Boulevard and Sutter Street
· Buchanan Street between Sutter and Bush streets
· Intersection: Post Street at Webster Street

From 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., Sunday:
· Dr. Carlton B. Goodlett Place between Grove and McAllister streets

From noon to 6 p.m., Sunday:
· Post Street between Fillmore and Steiner streets
· Avery Street between Geary Boulevard and Post Street
· Intersection: Avery Street at Post Street

The parade units will gather at Civic Center at 11 a.m. on Sunday for the Cherry Blossom Grand Parade. The parade will begin at 1 p.m. and follow a route from Polk and McAllister streets, north on Polk Street and west on Post Street to disband between Fillmore and Steiner streets.

All intersections along the parade route will remain open except when the parade passes. Streets will re-open as soon as possible after the parade passes and the streets have been cleaned.

The following Muni routes will be affected:

· 3 Jackson
· 5 Fulton
· 19 Polk
· 21 Hayes
· 22 Fillmore
· 31 Balboa
· 38 Geary
· 47 Van Ness
· 49 Van Ness-Mission
· 76X Marin Headlands

Cesar Chavez Parade and Festival
On Saturday the annual Cesar Chavez Parade will begin at 11 a.m. Participants will gather at 19th Street between Dolores and Guerrero streets at 10 a.m. The festival will be held after the parade on 24th Street between Treat and Bryant streets from noon to 5 p.m.

The parade will proceed from Dolores and 19th streets, east on 19th Street, south on Mission Street, east on 24th Street to the festival area between Treat and Bryant streets.

Streets will re-open as the parade passes. The following closures will be required from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.:
· 24th Street between Treat and Bryant streets
· Harrison Street between 23rd and 25th streets
· Alabama Street between 23rd and 25th streets
· Florida Street between 23rd and 25th streets

Local residential access will be allowed on Harrison, Florida and Alabama via 25th and 23rd streets.

The following Muni routes will be affected:
· 12 Folsom-Pacific
· 14 Mission
· 14L Mission Ltd.
· 27 Bryant
· 48 Quintara-24th Street
· 49 Mission-Van Ness
· 67 Bernal Heights

Earth Day Celebration
On Saturday the Earth Day Celebration will take place at Civic Center Plaza from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

There will be no street closures and no Muni lines or routes will be affected.

Heavy pedestrian traffic is expected, and attendees should expect high passenger volume on public transit. Motorists should allow extra travel time or use alternate routes.

Exploratorium Science Museum

Beginning Saturday, the SFMTA will provide weekend supplemental bus shuttle service on the F Market and Wharves Line to facilitate the increased ridership to the new Exploratorium Science Museum at Pier 15/17.

The F Market and Wharves bus shuttles will operate from Main and Market streets to Pier 39. There will be signs at the Embarcadero Station and at the last F Line stop on Market Street to alert customers of the additional shuttle service.
