SamTrans Bus Strikes Pedestrian

A man was hospitalized after being struck by a SamTrans bus on San Francisco’s Mission Street on Tuesday evening, police and transit officials said.

The collision was reported at 6:34 p.m. at Mission and Valencia streets just south of Cesar Chavez Street, SamTrans spokeswoman Christine Dunn said.

Police said the 50-year-old victim stepped into the street and was hit by the bus.

He was taken to San Francisco General Hospital to be treated for head and torso injuries that are not considered life-threatening, police said.

The bus was traveling south on SamTrans Route 391 between the Transbay Terminal in San Francisco and the Redwood City Caltrain station, Dunn said.

San Francisco police and SamTrans officials are continuing to investigate the collision, she said.
