Though privacy and civil liberty concerns have been raised with SFPD’s push to force bars to add surveillance cameras, SFPD Chief Greg Suhr is undeterred — and wants even more cameras recording your every move, this time when you’re on Market Street.

The Chron’s Matier & Ross reports that Suhr says he’s looking into adding tons of cameras to monitor all of Market’s big events and parades.

According to ABC7, though plenty of businesses along Market Street have cameras in place, SFPD doesn’t presently have any installed. With security “heightened” since the Boston bombings, SFPD believes this is a good time to get their cameras in there, to either deter or help solve crimes.

Suhr plans to present his camera plan at an upcoming Supervisors’ hearing on event safety
