A 32-year-old man was arrested after allegedly vandalizing San Francisco City Hall on Easter Sunday, a sheriff’s spokeswoman said today.

Shawn Watkins was arrested at about 9 p.m. Sunday on suspicion of felony burglary and misdemeanor trespassing and vandalism, sheriff’s Chief Deputy Kathy Gorwood said.

Watkins allegedly snuck into City Hall and scratched and carved on walls on the building’s second floor, across the hallway from the press room, Gorwood said.

The building was closed on Sunday, and investigators do not know how Watkins got inside, City Hall building manager Rob Reiter said.

Reiter said sheriff’s investigators are reviewing security footage to see if it can shed any light on the case.
