12:59 PM: Normal BART service has resumed following a train fatality at the 12th Street/Oakland City Center station this morning, a BART operator confirmed.

As of 12:02 p.m., all trains were operating on a normal schedule following the 9:10 a.m. incident, in which a person was hit by a train.

A Richmond-bound train struck the person on the tracks along Platform 3, spokeswoman Alicia Trost said. No information has been released on how the person got onto the tracks or whether the victim was a man or a woman.

Trains bound for Richmond and Pittsburg/Bay Point were passing through the station without stopping and riders were forced to use the 19th Street station while authorities finished their investigation.

Trains headed to San Francisco and Fremont were not impacted, Trost said.

10:08 AM: A person was struck and killed by a train at the 12th Street/Oakland City Center BART station this morning, a BART spokeswoman said.

9:35 AM: BART service in the East Bay is affected by an incident involving a “person under a train” at the 12th Street/Oakland City Center station this morning, a BART employee said.

Trains bound for Richmond and Bay Point are passing through the station without stopping, the employee said.
However, trains headed in the other direction are still making stops there, he said.

He did not have additional details on the incident.
