policeblotter_sfa.jpgA man who was found dead near San Francisco’s Powell Street BART station on Tuesday morning has been identified by the medical examiner’s office as 50-year-old Travis Torres.

Officers responded to a report of a person down in the first block of Ellis Street at about 6 a.m. Tuesday, San Francisco police spokesman Officer Gordon Shyy said.

They arrived and began giving Torres CPR, but he was pronounced dead at the scene, Shyy said.

The incident was reported by one of Torres’ co-workers, but Shyy did not have information about where Torres worked.

The death is considered suspicious and remains under investigation. Torres was a San Francisco resident.

The medical examiner’s office had not yet started an autopsy as of this morning to determine the exact cause of death, according to Shyy.
