A man was shot in the Fort Mason area of San Francisco tonight, a National Park Service spokeswoman said.

The sound of gunshots was reported near Black Point Battery, along the path from the top of Van Ness Avenue to the upper Fort Mason area, at 8:58 p.m., NPS spokeswoman Alexandra Picavet said.

Minutes later, a man walked into a restaurant in the Ghirardelli Square area suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the leg and asked for help, Picavet said.

The victim, a man in his 20s from the East Bay, was taken to San Francisco General Hospital to be treated for injuries not considered life-threatening.
