lee.debate.jpgSan Francisco Mayor Ed Lee responded swiftly to the 49ers loss this evening in Super Bowl XLVII

“Tonight, once again, the San Francisco 49ers thrilled the entire Bay Area with a spectacular performance,” Lee said.

“The entire team demonstrated what you can accomplish with enough perseverance and teamwork. Although they did not come up with a win, our City is proud of our Red & Gold hometown team.”

Lee’s words seemed especially upbeat given that he must now make good on his Super Bowl wager with Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake.

As the winning city’s mayor, Rawlings-Blake will host the Lee as he takes part in a day of service with Baltimore programs from AmeriCorps, a federal community service agency.

Lee must also visit a Baltimore-area crab market while wearing a Baltimore Ravens jersey and will crack open a blue crab.

But, at least tonight, Lee appeared not to be thinking about his upcoming adventures in Maryland.

“The City and County of San Francisco congratulates this remarkable NFC Champion team, every player on the roster, the entire 49ers organization, the York family, and every fan for an amazing, hard fought season,” Lee said.
