The Super Bowl is fast approaching and as 49ers fans across the Bay Area get ready for the start of another dynasty, I’ve been in New Orleans setting up for the grandest of football stages in the Superdome itself. Last year, my only missive came from SF mayor Ed Lee placing a friendly bet with New Orleans mayor Mitch Landrieu. (which, of course, we won) This year, it’s a whole other beast.

Talk shows and sportscasts, concerts, memorabilia, tailgating, private parties, and a whole mess of controversy have taken over the Big Easy making just about every little task a big pain in the ass, albeit a flashy and star-ridden one.

All this weekend I’ll be bringing you coverage from the more offbeat side of the Super Bowl: from the folks who help put it on to the tourists just here for the ride. Follow along on twitter @ayetalian and be on the lookout for my daily write-ups.
