One of the four ferries between the two cities has been out of commission since Monday because of a mechanical problem, and a backup ferry is in the shipyard for routine maintenance, San Francisco Bay Ferry’s manager of Transportation Services Ernest Sanchez said this afternoon.

Ferry riders have been either been taking the other two ferries or buses between Vallejo and San Francisco, but the third ferry should be repaired and back in service in time for Thursday’s evening commute from San Francisco to Vallejo, Sanchez said.

An estimated 1,400 people use the San Francisco Bay Ferry’s 10 daily trips between Vallejo and San Francisco, Sanchez said.
