49ers2.jpgThe San Francisco 49ers today announced a three-year, $300,000 commitment to a youth clinic being constructed in the city’s Bayview District.

The team made the announcement at a groundbreaking ceremony today for the Center for Youth Wellness Clinic at 3450 Third St.

The 49ers Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the team, donated $150,000 to the center today and will give $100,000 in 2013 and $50,000 in 2014, 49ers spokeswoman Talia Malik said.

The clinic, slated to open in early 2013, will feature the “49ers Huddle,” an intake center for all youth visiting the center.

The donation “is going to make a huge difference,” said Nadine Burke Harris, the clinic’s chief executive officer. “It’s incredibly exciting for kids and the community and we’re very grateful to the 49ers Foundation.”

The Center for Youth Wellness Clinic is a nonprofit partnering with California Pacific Medical Center’s Bayview Child Health Center.

The clinic will focus on children and families in the southeast part of the city who have suffered “adverse childhood experiences” and will provide medical and mental health services as well as family support and educational advocacy.

More information about the clinic can be found online at centerforyouthwellness.org.
