policeblotter_sfa.jpgA man arrested after a brief foot pursuit in San Francisco’s Hunters Point neighborhood this morning was later found to have an AK-47 assault rifle at a home nearby, a police spokesman said.

The suspect, who was known to police, was seen leaving a residence in the 100 block of Kiska Road shortly after 10:30 a.m., police spokesman Officer Gordon Shyy said.

When the suspect saw the officers, he began to run away, prompting a brief pursuit that ended when he broke into a home in the first block of Harbor Road, Shyy said.

Police took the man into custody after he briefly resisted arrest.

His name was not yet being released as of this afternoon, according to Shyy.

When investigators backtracked to the home on Kiska Road, they found the AK-47 gun and confiscated it, Shyy said.
