On Thursday for the Thanksgiving Day holiday, Muni will operate on a Sunday schedule. On Friday Muni will operate on a regular weekday schedule to provide additional service for those visiting and shopping in the city.

Central Subway construction will pause in Union Square and recommence in January 2013. All Union Square businesses remain open. On Thanksgiving Day parking meters and seven day street sweeping will not be enforced citywide. On Friday parking meters and 7-day street sweeping will be enforced. Commuter tow away, residential parking permits and Monday-Friday street sweeping will not be enforced on either day.

This year meters on Port of San Francisco property, including The Embarcadero and Fisherman’s Wharf, will be enforced seven days per week throughout the year, except Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.

Hazards are always subject to ticketing and towing.

San Francisco Rescue Mission Event
Holiday event hosted by San Francisco Rescue Mission will take place on Thanksgiving Day on Jones Street.

Jones Street between Eddy and Turk streets will be closed from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday.

No Muni bus service will be affected.

Turkey Day 5K Run
On Thursday the 5K Turkey Day Run will start at 8 a.m. at AT&T Park, lead out along the waterfront, heading south of Market District and finish at City Hall.

The following street closures will be required from 7:45 to 9 a.m.
?? Eastbound King Street between 3rd and 2nd streets
?? Northbound Embarcadero between 2nd and Mission streets
?? Howard Street between northbound Embarcadero and 7th Street
?? 7th Street between Howard and Market streets
?? CJ Brenham Street between Market and McAllister streets
?? McAllister Street between Hyde and Market streets
?? Hyde Street between Golden Gate Avenue and Grove Street
?? Fulton Street between Hyde and Larkin streets

Intersections are to be closed by Intermittent Traffic Control.

Union Square Tree Lighting Ceremony
On Friday the 23rd annual tree lighting will take place at 6 p.m. at Union Square.

Geary Street between Mason Street and Grant Avenue will be closed from 4 to 9 p.m.

As the crowd grows, the following streets closures will be required on an as-needed basis:
?? Post Street between Mason Street and Grant Avenue
?? Powell Street between O’Farrell and Sutter streets
?? Stockton Street between O’Farrell and Sutter streets
?? Intersections: Stockton and Powell streets on Geary Boulevard; Powell and Stockton streets on Post Street

The following Muni routes will be affected starting at 3:30 p.m.:

?? Powell-Mason Cable Car
?? 2 Clement
?? 3 Jackson
?? 8X Bayshore Express
?? 30 Stockton
?? 38 Geary
?? 38L Geary/Geary Limited
?? 45 Union/Stockton

There will be heavy traffic in the area. Motorists are advised to allow extra travel time.
