police-light-bar1.jpgA man was pistol-whipped and locked in the trunk of his car during a robbery in San Francisco’s Bayview District on Tuesday evening, police said today.

The robbery was reported around 7:15 p.m. near the intersection of Ingalls Street and Hollister Avenue.

The 46-year-old victim had just parked and gotten out of his car when three suspects approached. One struck the victim with a handgun, knocking him to the ground, while another took his car keys, according to police.

The suspects then opened the trunk of the car, stole some of the victim’s property, and then locked him inside the trunk, police said.

The victim was able to escape, and saw one of the suspects fleeing on a bicycle while the other two ran away.

The suspects, described as three men in their 20s, had not been arrested as of this morning, according to police.

The victim suffered injuries to his face but did not require hospitalization. He lost his jacket, wallet and cellphone in the robbery, police said.

Anyone with information about the case is encouraged to call the Police Department’s anonymous tip line at (415) 575-4444 or send a tip by text message to TIP411.
