A southbound Caltrain slowing train service after it struck a woman this morning in San Francisco’s Potrero Hill neighborhood has been taken off the tracks, a Caltrain spokeswoman said.
A woman was struck by southbound train No. 426 just south of 16th Street at 10:19 a.m., spokeswoman Christine Dunn said.
The woman survived the incident and was taken to a hospital, Dunn said.
Train No. 426 was carrying 160 passengers, all of whom were expected to board southbound train No. 428 after the stalled train was taken back to the San Francisco station as of 11:50 a.m., Dunn said.
Train No. 428 was scheduled to depart at 11:15 a.m. but has since been delayed, Dunn said.
Southbound trains were briefly single-tracking around the stalled train, according to Dunn, but as of noon, trains in both directors were traveling at reduced speeds through the area that had been cleared.
The affected train had departed the San Francisco station at 10:15 a.m. and was scheduled to stop at 22nd Street at 10:20 a.m.
A northbound train, No. 425, arrived in San Francisco 40 minutes late because of the accident, Dunn said.
