The shooting was reported at about 2:45 p.m. at Turk and Leavenworth streets, just a few blocks away from a large celebration in Civic Center Plaza for the Giants’ World Series title.

Suhr said the victims, believed to be Norteno gang members from Union City, came across a rival gang and were shot.

One was critically wounded in the shooting and was undergoing surgery at a hospital this evening while the other was grazed by a bullet and has already been treated and released, Suhr said.

Police had initially said both victims suffered life-threatening injuries.

No arrests had been made and no suspect information was immediately available in connection with the shooting as of this evening.
