police-light-bar1.jpgA pedestrian was critically injured when he was struck by a car near the Caltrain station in San Francisco on Sunday night, police said today.

The collision was reported at 8:57 p.m. near Fourth and King streets.

The pedestrian was running across the street when he was hit by a car that had a green light, police spokesman Officer Albie Esparza said.

He flew about 30 feet in the air before landing on the ground, and suffered a fractured skull and other injuries that are considered life-threatening, police said.

He was taken to San Francisco General Hospital.

The driver of the car stopped and cooperated with police after the accident, Esparza said.
